Yigal's role as a Senior Research Scientist is providing day-to-day leadership and oversight of the VPAL research team, and conducting research on innovative approaches for learning and assessment. Adaptive Learning Open Source Initiative (ALOSI) and technology-enhanced assessments are among his key research projects. Yigal is teaching Design and Development of Technology-Enhanced Assessments in The Technology, Innovation, and Education (TIE) master’s program at Harvard Graduate School of Education.
He was formerly a Senior Research Scientist at Pearson’s Center for Next Generation Learning and Assessment, where he led the research and development of innovative computer-based learning and assessment technologies for higher-order thinking skills, including PISA, NAEP and PARCC. Previously Yigal held academic appointments at the University of Haifa, the Open University of Israel and Ben-Gurion University. In 2009 he received the University of Haifa Faculty of Education's Outstanding Lecturer Award. Yigal taught computer science and physics in grades 5 through 12.
